Imperial China wants you to enjoy the items you have chosen for years to come. The following are some tips to help you maintain their special sparkle...

CHINA
There are many forms of dinnerware that fall under the "China" heading. Each are uniquely made with different methods and materials. Bone China is mostly a mixture of white clay and calcified animal bone ash. This mixture is fired at a very high temperature, and has a glaze finish. Bone china is translucent when held up to light and has a very delicate appearance. Porcelain is a very durable dinnerware. It has most of the same materials as bone china, except the bone ash. It is fired at high kiln temperatures. Earthenware requires very low kiln temperature to create. The beauty of this ceramic is enhanced by it's imperfections. Stoneware, also a ceramic, is made similar to earthenware, but with different clay. In general, it is strong, resistant, and ovenproof.

Hand Washing Tips
1. Do not put china directly against sink
2. Do not stack china in sink

FLATWARE
Sterling silver is metal that is made up of 92.5% silver and 7.5% of an alloy metal mixture. Most people are concerned about their sterling tarnishing. Tarnish is a natural occurrence that is caused by a chemical reaction. Frequent use of your silver can prevent tarnishing. If your silver already has tarnish on it, cleaning with a silver polish and a soft, lint-free cloth will remove it. It is expected that your sterling will not keep its bright finish. Over time, your silver will oxidize and there will be a black appearance in the carved details of the pieces. Sterling should not be kept for a prolonged period of time in any foods that contain vinegar or acidic products; such as tomato sauce. Hand washing is always recommended. Silverplate is the process of electroplating silver over a base metal. It is cared for in the same way as sterling silver. Stainless Steel is the most durable of flatware. It is a mixture of solid metal, so it will not crack, tarnish or rust. It can be used and dishwashed daily. You can find stainless steel in two grades, "18/10" and "18/8". The "10" and the "8" represent the percentage of nickel used in the manufacturing.

Hand Washing Tips
1. Always wash promptly after use
2. Do not wash sterling with any stainless steel flatware
3. Use a mild liquid detergent
4. Hand dry with a soft, lint-free cloth
